AMBASSADOR MEETS SECRETARY GENERAL BAN KI-MOON

On Wednesday, May 12, the UN Association in Canada hosted a large reception which was attended by Ambassador Bahah, at the Chateau Laurier Hotel to welcome His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations to Ottawa. The presentation was entitled, “A Conversation with the UN Secretary-General on Urgent Global Challenges”. During the course of his talk, he stated that “Canada is a longstanding supporter and partner of the UN” and praised the country as a “Champion of the Responsibility to Protect, of promoting and protecting human beings”.

Later in the day the Speaker of the Senate, the Honourable Noel Kinsella, hosted a reception for the distinguished visitor. Ambassador Bahah had an opportunity to converse with the Secretary-General, who confirmed the continued willingness of the United Nations to offer its support to Yemen.
