Ottawa, Canada (September 17, 2011) CANADIAN-YEMENI COMMUNITY & HERITAGE OTTAWA ELECTS NEW BOARD On September 17th, 2011, numerous members of the Canadian-Yemeni community gathered at the Bronson Centre in Ottawa, along with current Board Members, in order to elect the new Board of Directors for leadership of the Canadian-Yemeni Community & Heritage – Ottawa. The meeting commenced with a report on community activities and events transpiring between 2008 – 2011. This report was presented by the former Chairman of the Board, Abdul Atef Abdul Nasser. Following this, a committee of four was formed to conduct the meeting, comprised of Mr Qais Ghanem, Mr Abdul Atef Abdul Nasser, Mr. Saleh Amaflahi, and Mrs. Hiam Al Qirbi. The Committee then proceeded through the nomination and
election procedure and at the end of this, were successful in emerging
with nine new Members of the Board as listed below: Mrs Nagwa Saeed Ahmed, the Minister Plenipotentiary, from the Yemen Embassy, was delighted to attend. She gave a speech, in which she expressed tremendous gratitude to the previous Board for their dedicated hard work and remarkable achievements, and then presented them with Certificates of Appreciation from the Embassy. In closing, she congratulated the new Members and wished them luck, with the full confidence that they too are destined to accomplish great things.
